A Stepbrother Bully Romance

I'm the whispers in the dark you can't ignore.
The bully you can't run away from.

I'm the tormentor who makes your life a living hell.

The villain you love to hate.

I'm the vicious stepbrother sleeping in the next room.

The one who knows all your secrets.

And I'll stop at nothing to make you pay.

My Thoughts...

Ashley Jade's newest release is a really dark bully romance that takes place in high school. It follows Knox and Aspen who first meet when they're kids with Knox leaving a lasting impression on Aspen. Years later, these two characters see each other again as they both attend the same high school and soon become step-siblings.

Knox left an unforgettable impression on Aspen that when they do meet years later, she's afraid of him. But that doesn't stop Knox from making matters worse and provoking Aspen and openly bullying her.

While this was an enjoyable read, I did find some factors of this story jarring. Their were elements added that I was not a fan of and wish to not read about. These situations are very taboo and usually i'm okay with taboo romances, however this one was just not it for me.

I did like the characters and their growths throughout the story. I wasn't a fan of some or most of the choices they were making throughout the book. There were major choices too that Aspen made that I didn't like or agree with.

The last 20% or so of the book just did not sit right with me. I was confused as to how the characters, especially Aspen was okay with what was happening. I felt as though there was no build up to that certain scene in the end from Aspens side. I also felt as though there were no ramifications and everything was swept under the rug so easily and unbelievably.

Overall, this is an enjoyable read for lovers of dark TABOO bully romances.
