Zara.
Eli.
Alex.
Three students at Caven U who are all really, really f*cking tired of life.
Zara has a substance problem. Eli is a star athlete with a secret. And Alex? He’s just a f*cking a**hole.
Their paths collide one night at a party that quickly spirals out of control. A series of volatile moments follow, enveloping the three of them in a whirlwind of drama, drugs, and destruction.
Zara feels like she’s slipping under, losing her grip on reality. And if she isn’t careful, one of the boys just might pull her all the way down.
But the thing about almost dying at the hands of someone you hate?
In the moment before you take your last breath, the fear can feel a lot like...ecstasy.
And that’s a high you only get once in a lifetime.
Dark romance, suitable for 18+.

I enjoyed this book and really enjoyed the way it showcased drug addiction. I don't read many books where the main character has a drug problem, so this was very different and refreshing to read about. This book is really dark and the characters are all very questionable but it does have a HEA in case anyone was wondering. This book follows the perspective of three college students in their senior year of school. Zara, the main character, is such a complex character. She has a drug problem and she abuses substances in order to make her self feel normal. I honestly had trouble connecting with her only because of some of the stuff she did. She tended to overreact a lot and was a little dramatic sometimes. But she did have some character growth which was nice. Alex, at first I didn't like him, only because of how we see him treat Zara at the beginning of the book. But he grew on me and at the end of the book I really adored him. Alex has anger issues, so some of the crazy stuff he did to Zara made me dislike him, but he did eventually showcase his true nature and who he really is behind all that anger. Eli is a mysterious character. He is a damaged one and the things he went through really makes you sympathies with him. I really liked him because all of his actions, i feel as though they are justified because when you find out about his past, the things he does to Zara just makes you want to love him and hug him. I personally really liked him and sympathise with what he's been through. These characters felt so real and authentic to me. This book is dark, it deals with dark issues and has so many triggers. I enjoyed it and after finishing it, i've just been thinking about them and THAT ending. That ending really killed me, and I even shed some tears. I can't wait to read more books from this author! |
