A revenge that will consume her. A
love that will ruin her.
Emelina Flores has nothing. Her home in Ruina has been ravaged
by war; her parents were killed and her sister was kidnapped. Even though Em is
only a useless Ruined - completely lacking any magic - she is determined to get
revenge.
Her plan is simple: She will infiltrate the enemy's kingdom,
posing as the crown prince's betrothed. She will lead an ambush. She will kill
the king and everyone he holds dear, including his son.
The closer Em gets to the prince, though, the more she questions
her mission. Her rage-filled heart begins to soften. But with her life - and
her family - on the line, love could be Em's deadliest mistake
“He laughed
and clapped a hand on her shoulder. She considered breaking a few of his
fingers.”
Oh wow this
book. This book was wonderful; I don’t even know where to begin. This book was
fast paced and action packed, I loved Em, I think she was a very kick ass and
very strong character despite having no magic; being ‘useless’ as she calls It,
I think she’s very strong despite that. I don’t want to say much in fear of
spoiling this book, but if you love a good fantasy novel with kings and queens
and cute, handsome princes, with a heroin who deceives them all, then I think
you will love this book.
Now let’s
talk about Cas, the prince of Lera. Okay so first of all, he’s such a handsome
prince (duh) but he’s also very sweet and shy within meeting Em. I loved his character
and the way he grew in this book, he learnt to stand up for himself and what he
thought was right.
For some
reason I really disliked Jovita, Cas cousin. I thought she was a first class
bitch but anyways I’m trying not to spoil anything so I’ll leave it at that.
This book
was a very good first book in introducing the world and the characters and I think
I would have loved it even more if there was a map in this book. This book was
a great build up to the second one and I am very excited to continue on with
this series.
“they’ll all be on their
knees, begging for forgiveness.”
